Dear Eardley Family Member,

My grandparents were born in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Their names were Elijah Eardley and Annie Hilditch Eardley. Elijah was living in Sneyd Hill and Ann in Etruria Wood. There were married 2 August 1874 at the Parish Church Etruria. My grandfather Elijah was born on May 19, 1853. Elijah's father's name was Henry Eardley and he was married to Bessie Rickham. They resided at 151 Baddeley Edge, Norton, Stoke-on-Trent. I believe there were three children, Elijah, Agnes, and William. My grandparents emigrated to America in the 1880's and settled in Ohio. Elijah worked for the Ohio Penn Coal Company, and Annie worked for the Homer Laughlin China Co. Elijah was naturalized an American citizen 2 November 1892. Three of their children, Elizabeth, George and Ada (born 18 September 1883) were born in England. My father Frederick was born in America, 1 August 1890.

I am now in the process of researching a family tree for the benefit of my children and grandchildren. I am writing to every Eardley family known, approximately fourteen hundred, with the hope that someone can provide helpful information about the Eardley family history. I have received over 100 responses. They are all very informative and interesting but no specific details on Elijah or Annie, or his parents, other than what I noted.

If you have any Eardley family tree, or any other relevant information, could you please contact me. I would greatly appreciate any helpful information. After completing my research, I would be happy to share the results with you. If you have any advice or suggestions, please call or write. If you already received any mail from me, I apologize for the letter.

Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

Robert Jack Eardley
