By way of introduction my name is Brian Eardley grandson of Thomas Eardley from Birmingham England who married Harriet Wilkes on May 13th 1900. For your information I have in my possession the original Marriage Certificate although this is in a somewhat sorry state. You have been writing to my mother Joan Ivy Eardley widow of Henry Eardley for some time and I must confess that mom has asked me to write to you on her behalf on several occasions but with no excuses I did'nt get round to it until now. Please accept my sincere apologies for my total lack of manners. Mother will be joining me and my immediate family for Christmas this year and she has agreed to bring with her copies of any family related documents in her possession so that we can contribute some detailed information to your research.

Were you aware that the name can be traced back to Eardlew in Staffordshire with manor and estates in that shire. The family also had roots in the English Welsh border area and also acquired estates in Herefordshire.Ralph Eardley is recorded to have held the estates in 1273 and it was from this source that Lord Eardley descended.Belvidere at Shooters Hill near Greenwich was the seat of Sir Culling E Eardley in the 19th century. The barony title has been extinct since 1824.  I am informed that Marjorie Eardley settled in New England in 1760, Catherine Eardley settled in Boston Mass. in 1849.  The oldest grant of a Coats of Arms was silver on a blue chevron and three gold wheat sheaves. The Crest was A red stag running.  The Family moto was "Non Nobis Solum".

My address:

Best Wishes
Brian Eardley
