A much travelled Eardley

I noticed Robert Eardley when looking through all the UK census records, and thought he'd create a big headache for reseachers and those claiming him as an ancestor. Born in Stockport, Cheshire in 1819, of William and Mary, he died in Essex, late 1901. His father was born in Hope, Derbyshire, near Disley , Cheshire. He in turn was apparently the son of William E. and Susannah Stenton married in Manchester Cathedral on September 9th, 1794.
In 1851 census William was a schoolmaster Principal in Stockport, and Robert was a classical music tutor. Siblings were William (1828), Frances (1830), Harriet (1833), Emma (1839).
Robert at some point became a travelling Methodist preacher, marrying Laura Pope in Plymouth, Devon. Their son Ernest was born in Rochdale, Lancs,in 1866, and Frank in Bolton,1869, Lancs. Other known offspring were Allunth?, 1874, Edith 1873, Ethel 1879, Ernestine 1878.
In 1861 census he was in Redruth, Cornwall.
" 1871 " " Salford Lancs.
" 1881 " " ST.Gluvias, Cornwall.
" 1891 " " Wigan Lancs.
" 1901 " " Tottenham, London.
Hope this helps some searchers. He might even have been abroad on missionary work.
pete
