Mission Accomplished!

I must be getting old.In my Christmas roundup of events I completely forgot to mention something that had just taken place.Short term memory issue. You just wait.It will happen to you too--if it hasn't already.

Anyway----the final monies outstanding on the East Window have now been cleared thanks to substantial input not only from Jack but also from the proceeds from a wonderful Christmas Concert in Audley Parish Church on 20th December.
The Churh was packed, reminiscent of July 2000.The Audley Male Voice Choir, together with the Audley Brass Band, sang and played their hearts out to the delight of the congre/audience.I'm not sure how to describe them. However there was a further treat in store for us.Local soprano,Denise Leigh, who lives opposite the vicarage thrilled us all with her amazing talent.Denise who happens to be non-sighted, is set to become the next 'big thing' in her field. She was fresh from her TV triumph in which she had emerged the eventual nationwide winner from a 2000 strong starting line up designed to discover emerging singing talent. She was introduced to the Queen and somehow 'forgot' her carefully rehearsed protocol and simply blurted out 'Hi'.People 'lose it' frequently when the big moment comes and we are sure her Majesty took it in her stride.
Anyhow,a big thankyou to all who made the Window Project possible. It should stay in place for 150 years---at least.Rev.Peter Davies made special mention of our magnificent efforts to 'make a difference'over the years and we can all take great pride in our achievement. In that regard we can say with pride that it is 'Mission Accomplished.'
David Eardley,a regular contributor to our site and convenor of the monthly Eardley Meetings and much more besides, was largely responsible for the successful organising and smooth running of the projrct. He is deserving of a huge thankyou from us all.His wife,Thelma, has not been well for a while and we wish her a speedy recovery.

A Happy New Year to Everyone.

Robert
