Hello! I am Cecily Wilson (n.Eardley) from Brisbane, Australia: sister to Peter in Perth, Margaret in Mackay and Joscelyn in Bundaberg. My family tree traces back to Sir Nicholas Wilmot marrying Dorothy Harper. Their son Robert m.Elizabeth Eardley appr. 1700, daughter of Edward Eardley of Eardley Co., Stafford. Their son Robert (had brothers John, Christopher and Henry) m. Ursula Marrow. (?Marow) Their son Sir John Eardley-Wilmot(had brother Robert and 2 sisters) m. Sarah Rivett. Their daughter Mary /Maria Marow Wilmot (brother John and sister Elizabeth) born 5.12.1766 died 1.3.1794 m. Sampson (Lord Eardley), born 10.10.1745 . [Sampson (Lord Eardley) was the son of Sampson Gideon b.1699, d. October 1762 and Jane Ermel, daughter of Charles. Sampson Gideon was the son of Rowland Gideon (or Rohiel Abudiente) born 1654, died 1722.] Sampson (Lord Eardley) changed his name by licence in July 1789 to Eardley; and on the 16th November 1789 he was created a peer of Ireland by the name and title of Baron Eardley of Spalding, co. Lincoln. Mary (Maria) and Sampson (Lord Eardley) had 2 sons Sampson b. 29.12.1770, d. 21.5.1824; and William B.22.5.1775, d.17.9.1805, both of whom died unmarried: and 3 daughters - Maria Marow who married Gregory William Twisleton 3.9.1794; Charlotte Elizabeth m. Sir Culling Smith on 22.9.1792; and Selina m. Colonel John Wallbank Childers on 26.6.1797. Son Sampson (the eldest of the 5) had a son, presumably illegitimate, Edward Sampson Eardley (Cousins), b.20.1.1819, d.21.7.1893. Edward m. Emma Elizabeth Fertel, aged 24 years, in 1849 (Page 1 on the list Robert Jack Eardley mailed Nov.'99). In 1857 Edward m. Helena Susannah Wilkins, aged 25 years (page 2, same list). 3 children resulted - William Eardley who went to Canada; Edward Culling Ernest Eardley, b.1866, d.1961; and Edward Charles Wilmot Eardley, my paternal grandfather, b.14.6.1868, d.14.1.1948, who went to Australia. He married Elizabeth Loveday Moore Robinson, b.Feb.1871, d.16.2.1907. They had 4 children. Helena Katherine Muriel b.16.12.1894, now deceased, who married Wallace Houston: Edmund Godfrey Cyril, my father, b.28.5.1896, d.April 1978 who married Kathleen Hayden, d.26.12.1965, on 7.4.1934: Charles Wilmot Derek B.22.3.1897, d.14.8.1898; and Maurice Wilmot who married Edith Mary Anderson. My parents had 6 children. 2 are deceased; and the remaining four intend being at the July 15th reunion. My cousin Elizabeth Rosenberg (n.Houston) may also be present. This research has been conducted totally, I believe, by my cousin Edith Eggett(daughter of Maurice Wilmot Eardley)who lives in Farmington, New Mexico and Silverton, Colorado, USA. She probably has much more by now. I must get in touch with her again. Jack I must congratulate you on an excellent website, which I just tapped into Friday, 28th April. Most fortunate - as the old message board ceases tomorrow, May 1st. I spent all Friday am going through them - quite a task, but most enjoyable. I have all the other sites to tap into yet. Congratulations also to yourself and your helpers for the enormous tasks you have undertaken. But what a result! I look forward to being there July 15th with my husband John and meeting many of you.
