Eardley Crest on Holiday

I had to go into Blackpool yesterday. It was typical Blackpool Illuminations weather,,damp and breezy. On reaching a taxi rank outside Blackpool Pleasure Beach I saw three horse drawn landaus and on the door of one of them was what I thought looked like the Eardley Crest. I pulled over and took a closer look. It was very much like the Crest on the memorial board in St. James' Church but did not have the "fretty" (that's the squiggly red and gold bit in the corner). On questioning the driver, who was not the owner, he said his boss had bought the landau in Brighton and his surname was Stanley not Eardley. So, you southern Eardleys, what's the story..Who owned this ancient vehicle and the "almost" Eardley Crest. Bill. (St. Annes not Blackpool)
