Eardley Day Update

Hello,Eardleys everywhere,

Just to let you know that at the moment of writing, everything is going well with the preparations for Eardley Day, Sunday July 17th 2005 in Audley, England.

As we learned from Ian Knight, Church Administrator, there is to be a morning outdoor church service to mark the 60th Anniversary of VE/VJ Day on Sunday July 17th 2005.This of course coincides with our own celebration marking the fifth anniversary of our great reunion, which brought Eardleys from all parts of the world to Audley,England in July 2000.This tremendous gathering of Eardleys at St.James'Church placed Audley firmly into the spotlight and record books. There had never been anything like it before and we were all proud to be able to trace our heritage back to this charming village.

We will be discovering very soon exactly where the outdoor service will take place and we will post the details as soon as we have them or you can contact the Church directly.

Keith Eardley, Jack's son, has written several new songs which will be performed for the first time by the Eric Baker Band later in the day.Keith himself may be able to be over in Audley, but we know he has an important legal case to attend, and so it may not be possible on this occasion. However, he will be here in spirit and his music will represent the Eardleys more than adequately.

Again,if each one reading this message will inform the rest of your particular Eardley Family about the event, then we should have a reasonable crowd there on that day.

This will be the first of many such events and the plan is to celebrate our heritage in this manner on an annual basis. The event will take place in Audley on the third Sunday of July each year. This is in response to numerous pleas from Eardleys not to allow the Spirit of the Year 2000 to be lost in the mists of time.Over the years, the format may evolve, but its spirit will remain centered on maintaining our extended family relationships through fellowship and an ever deepening appreciation of what as an extended Eardley family' we have achieved over the centuries.
We anticipate seeing as many of you as possible on Sunday July 17th 2005. We will provide further updates on a weekly basis.

God Bless,

Robert Francis Eardley
