Eardley Day/Audley 15 July 2000

From all accounts from the Eardley Day committee that met the 6th of May 2000 and from continuing contact with David Eardley and Margaret Eardley Beaumont, the day is well planned. For example, a bulletin is being prepared to be placed on the message board to let everyone know the exact program. Services will begin at 12:00 noon. Bernard Whittle will be the organist and has been practicing the songs, in the order that they will be sung, 1. We Gather Together, 2. Amazing Grace, 3. Abide With Me, and 4. We'll Meet Again. Bernard will be playing the music "A Perfect Day" interspersed through the service. The Audley Choir not only will sing these songs, but will have a triology of their own for us. Robert Francis Eardley, Margaret Eardley Beaumont, and David Eardley will each offer a prayer in rememberance of those passed on. Curate Roger Woods will deliver a message. Vicar Peter Davies will participate. A freewill offering will be taken for the restoration of the Prestigious East Stained Glass Window so that the Eardleys may leave a continuity from the plaque in the entrance foyer where land was given for the church by Eardleys to the present day restoration of the window. For everyone's information, the left side seating will be reserved for the elderly and infirmed, while the right side of the church will open to anyone. Both side doors will be open as well as the front door at an early hour. Robert Jack Eardley, Robert Francis Eardley, Cyril Eardley, Margaret Eardley Beaumont, and David Eardley will attempt to greet everyone. It is hoped and requested that everyone will sign the Book of Rememberance which will be placed in permanent custody at St. James Church. It should be a fantastic day and from the numbers that say they are coming, the church may be overflowing. The right side of the churchyard will be available to that group who are welcome to meander in and out the side doors. A public address system will be set up outside. The village of Audley is very excited and it is our understanding that no one is leaving the village that day. The show of family support is overwhelming. This Eardley Day could not have happened without the total support of those who shared email, telephone calls and letters. If you have any questions or suggestions please post them on the message board for response. One might check the website itself for general information for that weekend.
